Hybrid Course — Self-paced plus scheduled Zoom sessions
This course may be taken à la carte or as part of the Wesley Pathways for Ministry Certificate Program.

Participants will learn how to lead a congregation toward its vision and mission. They will learn ways to navigate obstacles while moving towards transformation. By taking the course, participants will be able to discern the context and engage the congregation in moving toward fulfilling their mission.
CEU credit
One CEU will be awarded for the successful completion of this course.
Course objectives
- Identify some of the key characteristics of excellent leadership.
- Learn how to analyze and understand the people whom we lead in ministry.
- Recognize and deploy different strategies for navigating complex situations and tensions in ministry.
About the course
This course is comprised of six self-paced learning modules and three synchronous Zoom sessions. Each learning modules involves a combination of readings, videos, and reflection exercises designed to help participants think through the many different aspects of faithfully leading congregations in ministry, while the Zoom sessions provide a space for participants to explore the learning material together as they look for ways to implement its more helpful aspects.
The main text for this course is Lovett Weems' book Leadership in the Wesleyan Spirit, and participants are asked to secure their own copy prior to the course beginning. All other reading and learning materials will be provided within the modules.
