This course introduces participants to basic functions of congregational care. It teaches learners how to offer caring support and to provide referrals to appropriate services. By taking the course, participants will be more able to engage appropriate congregational care issues.
CEU credit
One CEU will be awarded for the successful completion of this course.
Course objectives
By taking this course, participants will be able to:
- Learn foundational listening and responding skills
- Reflect on their role as caregiver in community
- Offer caring presence to those in need, and experiencing loss and grief
About the course
This course is comprised of five self-paced learning modules and two synchronous Zoom sessions. Each learning modules involves a combination of readings, videos, and reflection exercises designed to help participants learn pastoral care and navigate caring in community. In the Zoom sessions, participants will engage core themes of effective care and how to embody it.
