This course will introduce participants to core elements that comprise preaching. The course has been designed as a precursor to a more robust introduction to preaching itself. The six modules will guide participants to interpret Scripture text for the work of preparing sermons, introduce concepts in the form and delivery of sacred speech, and conclude with the delivery of a mini sermon. By taking the course, participants will become more confident in proclaiming the gospel.
CEU credit
One CEU will be awarded for the successful completion of this course.
Course objectives
- Become acquainted with the historical background of preaching
- Formulate a theological understanding of preaching
- Identify different strategies for preaching and worship leadership
About this course
This course is comprised of six self-paced learning modules and two synchronous Zoom sessions. Each learning modules involves a combination of readings, videos, and reflection exercises designed to help participants better understand the tasks of preaching and worship leadership and navigate their complexities. In the Zoom sessions, they will dive further into the material, discussing together its themes and strategies and discerning which aspects can help support their work going forward.
